Vicki Bailey Christie, age 70, passed away on March 14, 2024. Vicki was born in Atlanta, Georgia on November 2, 1953. Vicki followed in her mother’s footsteps and became a cosmetologist, cutting hair for many years at various shops and owning two of her own. During the 1980s and 1990s she was a long time employee of Hair Pros in Snellville.
She married her husband William (Bill) Robert Christie in 1974 and they were married until his passing in 1999. During their nearly 25 years of marriage, they mostly lived in the Stone Mountain and Snellville areas. They had a heart for adoption so they welcomed home son Andy in 1977 and daughter Jharna in 1978. In 1981 Vicki gave birth to daughter Lori.
Vicki enjoyed going to the beach, particularly Panama City Beach, Florida. She was a loving mother who always supported her children. In later years, she enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren, having Saturday evening dinners with her group of friends, and going on senior trips to a variety of places. She continued to occasionally cut hair for family and friends.
She loved the various dogs she had over the years, and in particular had a special place in her heart for her beloved Bud, Zoie, and Callie.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Robert E. Bailey and Ossie Barbee Bailey; husband William Robert Christie; brothers Donnie Barbee and Kenny Barbee, and sisters Annie Bob Archer and Hazel Jones.
She is survived by her brother, Bobby Bailey; daughter Jharna Hossain, daughter Lori McEntire, son Andy Christie; 6 grandsons, Navaz Hossain, Nabil Hossain, Austin McEntire, Miles McEntire, Merritt McEntire, Lochlan McEntire; and 2 granddaughters, Abbey Christie and Lily Christie.
A visitation and funeral will be held at Byrd and Flanigan Funeral Home on Friday, March 22, 2024. The visitation is from 10am-12pm and the funeral is at 12pm. There will be a graveside service immediately after the funeral at Pleasant Hill Cemetery in Dacula, Georgia.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks for donations to be made to either the American Cancer Society, because of the various family members Vicki had that were affected by cancer, or the Humane Society, because of Vicki’s love for animals.
